BikerFest MKE’s Sliders Program Gains Momentum with Key Partnerships, Supporting Diversity and Inclusion in Motorcycle Sports

Milwaukee, WI – August 29, 2024 –BikerFest MKE, a local non-profit 501c3 organization that champions inclusivity and diversity in the motorcycle industry through engaging events, programs and partnerships announces the continued success and expansion of our Sliders Flat Track Racing Program, thanks to the incredible support of key partners Flat Out Friday, Cream City Moto, and Bell Helmets. The program, which started as a pilot to introduce underrepresented youth to the world of motorcycle racing, has quickly gained traction and is setting new standards in motorcycle-related sports.

Despite early challenges, including unexpected track closures and lack of resources the Sliders program maintained its momentum, proving the resilience and determination of its young participants and supportive parents. These kids raced at Fiserv Forum, standing tall with newfound confidence as they showcased their skills. Meeting pro racers like Cameron Smith, the only Black pro-racer in flat track racing, was more than just a highlight—it was a moment of inspiration that solidified their belief that they belong in this space.

“Sliders has helped our son build his confidence and courage. He now has a new passion and
enthusiasm for riding. We’re excited to see him grow.”
– Shakia Carr, parent of a Sliders participant

Building Bridges Through Motorcycles
Flat Out Friday, known for its commitment to creating inclusive and high-energy indoor flat track racing experiences, has generously donated four Stacyc e-Bikes to BikerFest MKE. These donations are crucial in empowering the next generation of young riders and giving them the tools they need to succeed. “We believe in the power of representation and the impact it has on the youth,” said Jeremy Prach, founder of Flat Out Friday and Riverwest 24. “The Sliders program embodies what we stand for—making racing accessible to all and breaking down barriers in the sport.”

Cream City Moto, a local motorcycle education hub with a focus on providing a supportive space for electronics, engineering and design has also been instrumental in the program’s success. “We believe that every child deserves a place where they can thrive and express themselves,” said Tiger Mabato of Cream City Moto. “The Sliders Program is providing that place—it’s where dreams are not just encouraged, but nurtured.”

With the recent grant from the 2024 Reasons For Hope initiative through Greater Milwaukee Foundation, BikerFest MKE purchased two new Kawasaki dirt bikes, allowing participants to graduate from Stacyc e-bikes to motorized dirt bikes. On September 21, these young racers will take to the dirt track at Aztalan Park in Jefferson County, WI, to participate in a full-scale race marking a significant milestone in their journey.

“When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our communities. The Sliders
Program up lifts our kids up and shows them that they have the power to define their own
path, no matter where they come from. With the support of our incredible partners, we’re
creating opportunities that will echo far beyond the track. Together, we’re shaping history,
and inspiring a generation that’s ready to lead with confidence and courage.”

– Venisha Simpson, founder of BikerFest Mke

Looking ahead As we look onward, we are filled with excitement, hope, and determination. The Sliders will introduce a new set of young people to flat track racing. Both intermediate and beginner participants will be working towards their next challenge being the upcoming Flat Out Friday event at Fiserv Forum in February of 2025. But more importantly, they will continue to learn, grow and inspire, shaping a more diverse and vibrant industry much like Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the city of motorcycles.

At its core, the Sliders program is about more than just racing—it’s about creating a community where every child feels seen, heard, and supported. It’s about laying the groundwork for a future where diversity, equity, and inclusion aren’t just words but lived experiences.

Sliders promises to be a beacon of hope and empowerment for Milwaukee’s young individuals. This project is dedicated to serving a population that has been historically marginalized and disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities. These young individuals possess incredible potential, resilience, and talent, yet are often denied the access, opportunities, and resources necessary to thrive. Our goal is to break the cycle of limited access and create a pathway for their empowerment.

For those who believe in the power of community, in the importance of inclusion, and in the building up of our youth, we invite you to join us September 21. Together, we are not just changing the narrative—we’re writing a new one.
